11U Gold Team Runner Up in Sports at the Beach Summer Slugfest!

The Stars battled through six games over 2 days, winning the first 5.  The team fell 6-5 in the Championship game.  It was a very competitive tournament featuring 16 teams from all along the East Coast.

Game1:        Stars    16            New Jersey Nationals 0

The team got off to a fast start, over-powering the Nationals in the opening game.  Steven Rosato, Michael Dellicarri, Kyle Carbone and Michael Cummings had two hits each to lead the offense.  Dean Conti was the winning pitcher.

Game 2:    Stars     8            Park Ridge Gators       4

The Stars finished pool play 2-0 with a solid victory over the Gators.  Michael Dellicarri lead the offense with 2 hits.  Michael Cummings added a 3 run double.  Kyle Carbone was the winning pitcher, with Ryan Donnelly earning the save.

Game 3:    New Jersey Nationals     5    Stars                 17

The Stars offense exploded for 17 runs lead by Terence Rogers who had 3 hits and scored 4 runs.  Ryan Donnelly and Steven Rosato added 2 hits a piece.  Michael Cummings had 3 hits including a 3 run home run.  Dean Conti had 2 stolen bases, and scored 2 runs.  Michael Dellicarri went the distance on the mound, surrendering just 3 hits and 2 earned runs.

Game 4:    HCYP Raiders        6    Stars                    11

The Stars battled back from a 4-0 deficit to earn a trip to the semi-finals.  James Hanigan lead the offense with 2 hits, both coming in the same inning.  He ignited an 8 run 3rd inning with a lead off single, and added a 2 run single later in the inning.  Jordan Landsman was 1-1 and scored 2 runs, while Jack Mandel stole 4 bases and scored another 2 runs.  Kyle Carbone went the final 4 innings to earn the victory.

Game 5:    Western Howard County Renegades    8    Stars    9

The Stars trailed 8-1 after 2 innings in the semi-final game.  Michael Cummings was tremendous in relief, going 4 innings, and not allowing a run earning the victory.  This effort allowed the team to chip away at the lead and win the game in the last inning.  Terence Rogers and Michael Dellicarri had 2 hits a piece to lead the offense.  Jack Mandel added 2 hits, including a walk off single in the bottom of the 6th.

Game 6:    Stars            5            Montgomery Generals           6

The Stars lost a hard fought Championship Game to a very good Montgomery Generals team.  The boys battled very hard, right down to the last out.  The team was paced by Jordan Landsman and Michael Cummings, who had 2 hits each.

Clarkstown Stars Black 10U team advances to the AABC Regional's !!
 
After opening the tournament with a tough 5-4 loss to Paramus ...
 
The Stars Black rebounded by winning 3 straight games, giving them an opportunity to play Pearl River. 
The winner would reach the regional tournament.
This team of 12 devoted players was down 11-4, but battled back with contributions by all to win 16-13.

 Clarkstown Stars 13U Summer Slugfest Champs

Clarkstown Stars 13 U Summer Slugfest Champs

This past weekend the Clarkstown Stars 13 U team won the Sports at the Beach Summer Slugfest Tournament. The Stars competed against the best 24 teams from the East Coast to win this prestigious tournament. The Stars won a total of 6 games going 6 and 0. Four of these wins came on Sunday 6/28/09. The Stars improved their record to 30 Wins and 8 loses.  A recap of the 6 games are as follows:
 
Game 1  Clarkstown Stars  12             Mid Atlantic Shockers 0

   Danny Schwartz and Jack Perez combined on a 3 hit shutout of the Shockers. Anthony Mercandetti was on base all 3 times for the Stars. This was a mercy rule game and ended after 5 innings.

Game 2  Clarkstown Stars  2              Basking Ridge Red Devils  1

  Robert Donnelly was the winning pitcher in this game scattering 8 hits over 6 innings. John Kukura supplied the offense for the Stars with 2 hit's. Josh Sharan was superb behind the plate.

Game 3   Clarkstown Stars  4            Hammonton NJ Stars   2

  Louis Noia threw a complete game for the battle of the Stars teams. Brendan Bisset and Anthony Morris had key hits for the Clarkstown Stars. This propelled them to 3 and 0 in the tournament.

Game 4    Clarkstown Stars  11         Delaware Blue Hens    7

  Ben Dranow and Jack Perez hit towering home runs for the Stars in a 11 to 7 win over the Blue Hens. The winning pitcher was Anthony Morris and Alex Conti got the save. With this win the Stars went into the Semi Finals of the tournament.

Game  5    Clarkstown Stars  15         West Co Bulldogs   9

  The Stars were up 8 to 1 after the first 2 innings and never looked back. The Stars were lead by home runs from John Kukura, Ben Dranow, Jack Perez and Louis Noia. Brendan Bisset had 3 hits for the Stars. Danny Schwartz got the win and Jack Perez got the save. With this win the Stars were in the Championship Game.

Game 6      Championship Game      Clarkstown Stars  4          Tri State Arsenal  3
                 
  Alex Conti  pitched a complete game giving up 6 hits and 3 runs over seven innings. The Stars were lead by the hitting of Jack Perez. Jack hit a towering 3 run home run for the Stars. Ben Dranow followed with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Anthony morris went 2 for 3 for the Stars in the Championship Game. Alex Conti was named tournament MVP for Clarkstown.
